Vinted Users Express Anger Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
