La Petite Maison's Drink – How to Make It

WHere is a home-style take on a drink from our latest cocktail list. This is a party-sized premix which is packed full of flavours of a holiday season, rendering it excellent for hosting a celebration. Reserve the remaining citrus syrup for brunch beverages, sweets, or to make more rounds of bikinis.

Serves 10 servings

Ingredients for the Clementine Cordial (produces 750ml)

300ml recently pressed clementine juice
200ml newly squeezed lemon juice
500g fine sugar

For the Cocktail (makes 850ml, to serve 10)

400ml decent vodka
100ml London dry gin
150ml peach schnapps
200ml clementine syrup (as made above)
A few cranberries, for garnish
Mandarin essential oil, as a final touch

Instructions

Making the Syrup: Place the listed ingredients in a saucepan, heat until it reaches a light boil, mixing so the sugar melts. Next, take off the heat and leave to reach room temperature fully. Pour into an sealable bottle, seal and refrigerate it in the fridge, where it will keep for around one month.

Preparing the Premix: Pour all the spirits and syrup into one big jug, allow it to infuse for one hour, then pass it through , ideally through a fine cloth, to ensure it's completely strained.

For serving: Measure 85ml of your cocktail base into your mixing glass packed with ice, and stir gently for one minute to cool it down. Pour into a frosted cocktail glass or equivalent, decorate with the cranberries adding the final touch by giving it a quick spritz of mandarin oil above the glass.
