I'll stamp all over 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round fight which will be shown live on the streaming platform.
Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" the American and "overpower" the American as the two fighters came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.
Former two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge disparity - at Miami's venue on December 19th.
Fighter's Attitude
"I plan to injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, said.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I intend to really want to injure him. That's my intention."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.
Targeting Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British rival Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul win.
"[Paul] outshines Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer said.
"I acknowledge that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's fighting skills.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he stated.
Paul's History
Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.
He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, consistently making substantial paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in round four or five and asserted he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.
"The next fight will be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.
Physical Disparity
As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional face-off, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the match is actually proceeding.
